Each August the Carroll County Fair is held just outside the village at Schell Park. If you want your children educated in an excellent school district, Chadwick-Milledgeville District 399 won't disappoint. Scam Email Alert

It has been brought to our attention that residents are receiving emails like the one shown below asking for gift cards to be purchased. The emails appear to come from Village President Galen Wirth. These are spoofed emails not sent by Galen. Please DO NOT click on anything within the email or open any attachments.

Recycling Information

Recycling is through Republic Services. If you have any questions on what is recyclable, please call Republic Services at 815-284-2432.

Bring your old electronics to Village Hall to be recycled. Microwaves can be recycled for $10; TVs and monitors can be recycled for $1 per pound. All other items can be recycled for free. Freon items cannot be accepted.

Storm Warning Policy

When the National Weather Service issues a Tornado Warning or Severe Thunderstorm Warning which includes the Milledgeville/Coleta area: Milledgeville/Coleta Fire and EMS personnel will respond to the station when toned. The Officer in Charge will communicate with Carroll/Whiteside County, Local Police, and/or reports from Trained Weather Spotters.

When a Tornado or High Winds are reported, observed or sighted per: Milledgeville Fire Protection District, Police, Weather Service, Trained Weather Spotters, and Public Reports.

THE STORM WARNING SIRENS WILL BE ACTIVATED FOR A CONTINOUS THREE MINUTES.

Citizens should: SEEK IMMEDIATE COVER as a Three Minute Warning indicates that a Tornado and/or Damaging winds are in or approaching the area.

THERE WILL BE NO ALL-CLEAR SOUNDED.

Snow Shoveling Ordinance

If you will be gone for the winter, you will need to make sure you have someone to shovel for you.

All residents will need to have the snow removed from their sidewalks 12 hours after the snow falls or they will be ticketed. The Ordinance is listed below. Building owners and landlords will also be held to this Ordinance, whether their property is occupied or not. Thank you.

Snow Removal-Encumbrance: The occupant of each and every tenement, building or premises of the Village of Milledgeville fronting upon any street, or the owner of any unoccupied lot fronting upon any street, shall at all times keep the sidewalks in front of such tenement, building or premises lot free of encumbrance, and within the first 12(twelve) hours after daylight after the ceasing to fall of any snow, shall cause the snow to be removed from said sidewalk. PENALTY: Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of this Article shall be fined not less than twenty-five ($25.00) nor more than two-hundred dollars ($200.00) for each offense. A separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which violation occurs or continues.
